Far too much emphasis is being put on father/son relationship in this day and hour. Far too little emphasis is being put on the difference between a daddy and a father. Any male, at some point after puberty, can sire a child; but it takes second generation son to father a brother. Fathers, are second generation sons who know and understand that it is not about passing on THEIR genes to the next generation, it is about helping others discover who they are in the plan and purpose of Yahweh. When our reason for living becomes imparting HIS heart and life to those who will some day represent the next generation, we will be remembered as fathers of the faith. Mentoring programs and the big brother approach have been less than affective in impacting the next generation, because one of them can be paid for and the other lacks any real familial bond or living connection.
